You body froze as Kid kissed you. You stared wide eyed at him as you slowly felt yourself return to normal.  You were finally free from Kentaro’s brainwashing. You closed your eyes and kissed him back. Kid released your arm and you wrapped it around his neck

Kid knew what must be done. You had committed a crime after all. He deepened the kiss and brought his gun to your stomach. Tears fell from his eyes as his finger trembled.

He finally pulled away from you.

“Kid…” you whispered.

“I’m sorry…” he closed his eyes as he pulled the trigger. The shot echoed throughout the area.

Your eyes widened again as you felt it pierce your stomach. Tears fell from his eyes and fell onto your cheek.

“Thank you…” you smiled at him as a thin line of blood appeared from the corner of your mouth and trailed down your chin.

“I’m sorry…” he said again more tears dripping onto your cheek. You brought your hand up to rest on the side of his face.

“Kid...i’ve always loved you…” you took a shaky breath. “I just didn’t realize it...until recently...maybe things..could have turned out better for us..if we had met under...different circumstances…”

This only made his tears fall even more. He laid his head down on your shoulder. “I’m sorry…” he repeated again.

“You..did what..you had to do…” you smiled. Your life was slipping away from you very slowly.

Maka and Soul watched from the sidelines.

Tsubaki came and stood beside them. “Fate is cruel.”

“Yeah…” Maka agreed.

“Not cool.” Soul sniffed trying to keep his composure.

Kentaro growled as he watched his perfect plan shatter. That boy had released his vampire. “No worries. I can still take over..”

“I don’t think so.” Another voice said from behind Kentaro. He turned to find Sid behind him with his weapon.

“The zombie freak eh?” he smirked.

“If you move I’ll shoot,” he said, finger on the trigger ready to fire. He nodded to his other partner who chained him up and took him to the dungeon.

“Kid..” you mumbled.

“W-what?” he lifted his head up.

“This is..goodbye..” you told him.

Without another word he leaned down once more, connecting your lips with his. He pulled away again.

“I thought you said vampire aren’t killed with a wound to the stomach..?” he looked down at you confused.

“You’re a grim reaper...your weapons are different...being... the son... of Lord Death... and all…” you weakly pulled him back down, your hand resting on his cheeks.

After a few moments, your hand dropped to the ground. Kid pulled away and looked down at you. “H-hey...come on...wake up…”

You didn’t respond.

Your last breath had been taken away by him. Death The Kid. The boy you loved.
